Boavista has had a rough start to the new season with only a single match played on our own turf and that against title favorites Benfica. But now football is back at the Bessa! The checkered boys return after the international break to face Chaves on Friday (21/09/2018), and coach Jorge Simão stressed that his team is alive and well.

"We made four points in four games, three were away and the one at home was against Benfica. I don't think there's any team on our level with this kind of record in the championship. It was a difficult start, I'll say it now, but we stayed alive and refined our strategy," said Jorge Simão.

Simão expressed some concern about the upcoming match.

"We're talking about two very similar teams. Chaves is a very compact team and they will create difficulties for us."

Simão also commented on the international break and how it affected the team.

"I don't like these three week breaks, but I know that it's imperative. In any case we were active (playing friendlies), but the team wasn't subject to the emotional load of the championhip's battle for points."

Boavista and Chaves have already faced each other 42 times. The boys in checkered shirts hold the advantage with 19 wins, against 13 wins for the Chaves side. Last season's results between the two teams ended up in two draws (0-0 away and 3-3 at home).

The match starts at 08:30 pm local time.
