It wasn't the most beautiful of matches, but atleast the Bessa boys were able to finally get those precious 3 points. Boavista beat CD Aves at home (1x0), hopefully putting an end to the bad streak.
In a poorly played match, the checkered boys ended up benefiting from a second half where only one team really showed the desire to win.
Less football, more stalling
The first half was weak. Both teams needed the points, but not even the starting intensity of the Bessa side saved the first 45 minutes, which had plenty of stops (more than half a dozen) and very little football.
In fact, Jorge Simão's boys started with an offensive approach to the match and with some good ideas. David Simão, Fábio Espinho and Rochinha had promissing attemps on goal.
Aves tried to shake off the pressure causing more than a hand full of stops, with foward Vítor Gomes stalling the match twice before being substituted.
The saving grace
The second half didn't bring any major changes. There was only one thing worth mentioning: if the two teams were minimally interested in winning until the halftime break, the second half brought an even more uninterested Aves side, without any type of strategy to threaten the checkered goal.
Then came the last 20 minutes and the play that decided the match. Rafael Costa (who had just replaced Fábio Espinho) was put in charge of the free-kick which Bruno Gomes ended up deflecting into his own goal.
The Bessa boys were able to manage their short lead until the final whistle against an Aves side without ideas or any kind of offensive organization, marking Boavista's return to victories!
